When Pigs Fly Breads
Ron Siegel, one of the founders and owners of When Pigs Fly Breads, has this to say of our name: “What’s in a name… When I was little we would make daily trips to our local bakery. The wonderful aroma of fresh bread would make my mouth water. We would always get a loaf of Rye to bring home, and a load of Cinnamon Raisin to eat on the ride home. Being a chef by trade and living in Maine, where we had no fresh bread, I decided to pursue my passion. I only needed to persuade my doubting friends and family that starting a bakery was a good idea. It was difficult and scary to break out of my daily work routine to pursue a dream that had an unknown outcome. The name When Pigs Fly means: “I doubt it’s possible,” and that’s why it was the perfect name for my bakery.”
At When Pigs Fly, we sell artisanal breads that are baked fresh every single day. Choose from over 25 different flavors ranging from sweet, to savory, to traditional. We also offer a selection of smaller treats like cookies and individual bread puddings, and a wide variety of jams, spreads and everything in between, all locally made in Maine. Every Saturday, stop by and try one of more than a dozen different flavors of our fresh brioche-style donuts, and on Wednesdays you can grab a loaf of our classic Sourdough for only $3! Our breads are certified Kosher by KVH, and we are always happy to accept pre-orders for special occasions.
