Brookline Commission for the Arts
The mission of Brookline Commission for the Arts (BCA) is to support artists and arts-related organizations in Brookline. We encourage them to apply for grants, which are intended to enlarge their audiences and to make the arts available to community members of all ages. Each year we review applications and distribute funds from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The guidelines and applications can be found on our web site. Annually grants are awarded to between 15 and 25 artists, performers and arts organizations to create programming to enhance the cultural fabric of Brookline. Examples: Brookline Porchfest, Brookline Open Studios, Libretto reading, art events at the senior center, music events.
The BCA also runs several other programs: Brookline Poet Laureate, Brookline Emerging Artist, Town Hall Walls (a gallery program at Brookline Town Hall), the annual Cultural Contributor Award and Celebrate Music (a summer concert program).
The BCA is a town of Brookline commission: members are appointed by the Brookline Select Board. The BCA is a local community council (LCC) to the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), a state organization.
The BCA is supported by ArtsBrookline (a 501(c)(3) ), in providing promotional and social media support.
